With the help of the Stability Pact Office for SEE and the Hellenic Presidency of the European Union, CDRSEE pushed the "Reconciling for the Future" Project to help meet its long-term goal for the Southeast region to overcome its legacy of the past and build up genuine peace. The project was composed of four parts. The first part was an Internet forum that built a network for reconciliation and encouraged dialogue. The second was an exploratory brainstorming workshop held in April 2003, in which key figures discussed strategic ways of addressing reconciliation and reaching a common vision. The third part included a database composed of various initiatives related to the region of Southeast Europe. And the fourth component was the facilitation of agreed principles that could be the basis for a potential regional charter.
This project was an initiative of the Hellenic Presidency of the European Union and of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe and was supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
