Vicinities, the first current affairs talk show broadcast across the Balkans, is heading west to Brussels! On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Members of the European Parliament are invited to attend an event to celebrate the successes and look to the future of Vicinities.
The event, “Confronting the Past and Looking Towards the Future: Highlighting the Impact of the TV talk show Vicinities”, is hosted by MEP Ms Ulrike Lunacek and four other Members of the European Parliament.
A hundred guests, including MEPs, the diplomatic corps and the European Commission, will come together to see highlights of the talk show, in its second season, which brings together guests from across the region to talk about difficult subjects, such as War Crimes and national identity, in an open way that fosters communication and reconciliation. But just like the show Vicinities, the event will include its own unique touches!
A panel of six guests will discuss “Regional Cooperation in South East Europe: Freedom and Quality of the Media”. The discussion promises to be lively, even entertaining, and hard-hitting – giving the MEPs a feel for the success and importance of Vicinities.
The panel discussion will be moderated by MEP Lunacek and will feature the following speakers:
Erhard Busek - Jean Monnet Professor and Chairman of the Board of Directors, CDRSEE
Fabrice de Kerchove - Project Manager, King Baudouin Foundation
Eduard Kukan – Member of Parliament, Chair of the Delegation for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo
Goran Svilanovic - Secretary General, Regional Cooperation Council
Hannes Swoboda – Member of Parliament, President of S&D Group
Doris Pack - Member of Parliament, European Parliament
MEP Jelko Kacin and Joost Korte, Deputy Director General, DG Enlargement, will provide the ensuing commentary discussion. A cocktail reception will follow.
