28-30 September 2012: Launch of the second JHP Bosnian language edition and Teacher Training Workshops, Sarajevo

Following the highly successful launch of the second Bosnian language edition of the Joint History Project with extensive news coverage by main Bosnian television broadcasters (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtRlBaMKT8c), the workshops, funded under the IPA programme of the European Commission, welcomed teachers and provided them with an opportunity to learn about the JHP methodologies and familiarise themselves with the workbooks. The participants were assisted in creating their own model lessons based on the training, so as to consolidate their new skills for further use in class.

The workshops, implemented in cooperation with Dzevdet Tuzlic and the Association of History Teachers HIP BIH (Sarajevo), were moderated by Enes Milak, editor of the Bosnian language edition. They were guided by historians Nijazija Maslak and Munib Efendić who both provided working documents opening a discussion on the life of women and children during war, and Vesna Milovic, psychology professor from Montenegro who used conflict resolution skills when applying the lessons. As with all the JHP workshops, the training aimed at allowing history teachers to provide their pupils with participative, balanced and critical lessons, to foster tolerance and mutual understanding among the next generation of SEE citizens.
